Leon Draisaitl's agent is not in the mood for games, and has issued an ultimatum to Oilers' management regarding his client.

Draisaitl's agent Jiri Poner explained how the ball is now in Edmonton's court. It appears that Jiri and his client are now expecting a contract offer from the Oilers sooner rather than later, or else things could take a turn for the worse.

"It doesn't mean Leon Draisaitl is not focused; that's why you have an agent, and you pay him 3.5% of your contract."

Frank Seravalli on the contract discussions that have begun between Draisaitl and the Oilers.

Contract discussions are likely going to take quite some time, as Draisaitl is expected to receive a significant raise from his current $8.5 million yearly salary. All signs point to Draisaitl's agent wanting a contract that pays his client between $13.5 and $14.5 million per year, and he wants it quick. The Oilers, however, are prepared to take their time, and do not appear to be frightened by this potential ultimatum.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman recently wrote that the Oilers seem prepared to slow-play any contract extension talks with Draisaitl, but it sounds like Poner wants a quick decision by the club.

Oilers fans are hoping they will get to see many more years of Draisaitl celebrating jaw dropping goals, but in the meantime, patience is a virtue, that is unless you are Jiri Poner.
