The Toronto Maple Leafs may be in need of a drastic change if they can't make a Stanley Cup run this year, and it could involve Sidney Crosby. For some time now, the Toronto Maple Leafs have continued to come up short in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but with the addition of Craig Berube behind the bench, confidence is high. Without major changes to their forward group this summer though, the team may find it tough to get through the Eastern Conference once again, and if that happens, TSN's Bryan Hayes has a major suggestion. «If [Crosby] is going to wait it out, play his final year, and hit free agency next year, [then he should sign with] the Toronto Maple Leafs it doesn't get bigger than that in the hockey world,» Hayes said. «Maybe the greatest Canadian captain of all time, or real close to it, with Wayne Gretzky, with Mark Messier, with Mario Lemieux. «One of the great winners of all time. Golden goal in 2010. Come home, come to Canada, end the Canadian Cup drought as a Maple Leaf. [John] Tavares leaves, Sid comes in. It all works out for everybody.»

Given Crosby's dedication for over two decades to the Penguins, it would be crazy to see him in another NHL uniform, but if Pittsburgh can't build a strong enough unit around him, he may be forced out in free agency. That's still a long way away, as the Maple Leafs still need to deal with the situation surrounding Mitch Marner, but if they do indeed lose him in free agency, adding Crosby would be an incredible move.
