The Winnipeg Jets organization were hopeful they had drafted a star in Rutger McGroarty, but now their top prospect continues to be nothing but trouble. The Winnipeg Jets future could be very bright, but in recent times they've come under fire for their lack of development in blooding young players at the NHL level, and now it may be coming back to bite them. Rutger McGroarty, the teams top prospect has been causing trouble in recent weeks, as he reportedly refuses to join the team, even opting to return to Michigan for yet another season, which could ultimately lead to him requesting a trade. Lots of news today on Rutger McGroarty not being happy and looking to move on from Winnipeg. There's a good chance he's traded by this time next week. Check out my timeline for some of the details.

Unfortunately for McGroarty, other teams are taking note of his actions as well, and it appears as though he's now becoming known as a red flag for some of his recent antics. This is crazy to me. We're talking about red flag. A young man who has yet to prove himself at the pro level expects to walk in and be on an NHL roster right away...thats a problem

At this point, the Jets are best to simply trade McGroarty and move on from this type of drama, and given the way this off-season has gone, it appears to be only a matter of time until a trade occurs.
