The Edmonton Oilers once again came out on top in their battle with the Calgary Flames, but it came at a cost for veteran star Evander Kane. Unsurprisingly, the Battle of Alberta on Saturday once again came with plenty of drama, and while most of it came from the infighting on the Oilers bench, the teams did see some brutal penalties called. Arguably the biggest mishap of the game came when Evander Kane was called for slashing Calgary's Dryden Hunt, and now, the NHL's Department of Player Safety has been involved. Edmonton's Evander Kane has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Calgary's Dryden Hunt.

While there was no suspension for Kane, he was hit with the maximum allowable fine under the CBA for the move which was $5,000. Now, heading into the playoffs, this is the second time in a few weeks that Kane has made some sloppy plays, bad penalties and argued on the bench with a teammate, so we will wait and see how this team can operate when the playoffs arrive and everything gets much, much more intense. with evander kane in the box for this slash, yegor sharangovich makes it a one goal game.

The slash was certainly a bad one, with Kane showing frustration as the Flames netted a powerplay goal, so we will see if he can get under control in the next few weeks.
