Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre last night, and Matthews was booed by Montreal fans. He discussed that after the game, and how he felt about being booed. When the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Montreal Canadiens on Hockey Night in Canada, you know that the fans and everyone will be into it. That is exactly what happened last night. Montreal Fans were in full force at the Bell Centre and took to their tradition of booing the best player on the opposing team. In this case, it was Auston Matthews. Some Leaf fans were upset to see Matthews be booed for nothing, however, Matthews discussed after the game that this was a sign of respect from fans and that he didn't mind it at all. Honestly, I kind of find it like a tone of respect, I guess, especially in a building like this and a big time hockey city and fan base. So, I don't mind (smile). I don't mind at all.

Matthews didn't seem to mind when he was on the ice, either, as he was able to pot his 64th goal of the season, and the Leafs were able to pull away early from the Montreal Canadiens.

The question, now that the Leafs have clinched their playoff spot, is whether or not Auston Matthews will hit 70 goals this season. He is currently 6 goals away with just 7 games remaining. It will be a difficult feat, however, if anyone can do it, it's Auston Mattews.
