More and more people within the NHL are starting to suggest that Leon Draisaitl's future with the Edmonton Oilers could depend on the result of the series against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Oilers currently trail the Canucks 3-2 in the series, meaning their season is on the line tonight. Should the team bow out in the second round, it would be another major disappointment for the team that has the best player in the world and another top five player in Leon Draisaitl. Lately, rumors have started to crop up that Draisaitl could actually look to sign with another team after next season should the Oilers continue to struggle in the playoffs.
The amount of subtle little notes from legit media guys (Stauffer, Wysh, Marek) in the last few days has me really worried about Draisaitl re-signing for the first time ever. I hate this. Win game 6, damnit. #Oilers

A couple of days ago, Greg Wyshynski and Jeff Marek both revealed that they had heard rumors linking Draisaitl to the San Jose Sharks. While it might not sound like it makes sense, the Sharks are owned by German business man Hasso Plattner.
Wysh & Marek both mused about "would Leon go to San Jose to play for their German owner?" saying they heard it out there independently. Last night Jack said to Stauffer "is not only this years cup run, but future ones, on the line Saturday?" and he didn't disagree. Subtle, but 😬

The Sharks were the worst team in the NHL this season, but they have one of the strongest, if not they strongest prospect pool in the league, especially after they draft 1st overall this year, as well as three other top 50 picks. Should the team add Draisaitl as well as Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, suddenly, their forward core is looking very dangerous.
Should he hit the market, is #LetsGoOilers superstar Leon Draisaitl interested in signing with #SJSharks during the 2025 offseason? That has been "whispered" by insiders for "a while now." Read more on @TheHockeyNews.⤵️

Draisaitl is a proven playoffs beast. Should he pick the Sharks, he could potentially drag that team to a couple of playoff series victories way ahead of schedule. At this point, it still seems like a long shot, but where there is smoke there is fire, and the horizon is starting to look a little hazy.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are climbing an impressive #StanleyCup Playoffs list. 🧗‍♂️

Can they add to the total tonight as the @EdmontonOilers
look to force #Game7?
