NHL insider Kevin Weekes reveals when Evander Kane is expected to return from his severe injury

Today a new report from ESPN insider Kevin Weekes has revealed an official expected return timeline for Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane.

Evander Kane has had a frustrating last couple of seasons when it comes to injuries. First, he suffered a major wrist injury a couple of seasons back. Then during the Stanley Cup Finals, it was confirmed that Evander Kane suffered a severe lower-body injury that kept him out for most of the series.

Earlier this offseason Evander Kane had multiple surgeries to fix several injuries. Evander Kane has two torn hip adductor muscles, two hernias, and two torn lower abdominal muscles. All of these compounded and resulted in multiple surgeries being done in September which then landed Kane on long-term injured reserve.

At the time of his surgery, the timeline for a return was relatively unknown for Evander Kane. The injuries were serious and with so many stacked on one another, it made his return more complex. Today a report from NHL insider Kevin Weekes confirmed that as of now Evander Kane is expected back in early 2025.

This of course is still a vague timeline for a return but gives the Edmonton Oilers and their fans a potential target to look out for. Without Evander Kane the Edmonton Oilers have struggled to find their way this season. A dreadful powerplay and defensive lapses have caused the Edmonton Oilers to be one of the worst teams in the NHL so far this season. When healthy Evander Kane is one of the best power forwards in the NHL and an incredibly valuable player to the Edmonton Oilers lineup.

If the Oilers can find a way to get their chemistry back in the next month or so they could start to peak right as Evander Kane returns to the lineup. Of course, there will still be an adjustment period for Evander Kane to get himself back to the expected level.
