Oilers Corey Perry spilled the beans about why he left the Anaheim Ducks after 14 seasons with them, as he was interviewed on the Missin Curfew podcast. In 2019, Corey Perry was invited to dinner in Toronto with his agents and his wife where they would let him know that the Anaheim Ducks were buying out the remaining two years of his eight-year contract. Although his agents had intended to break news in private to him, it was actually via social media that Perry first learned about the buyout prior to meeting up with them. Perry opened up about it on the Missin Curfew podcast.

The two sides reached an amicable separation in the wake of his knee surgery, which caused a definite slide in Corey Perry's form. Still, Perry considered the buyout as an opportunity to extend his playing career. With that part now settled, Perry has since played for the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens , Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, and is with the Edmonton Oilers now. Even the storied career of Corey Perry had controversy befall him during his time with the Blackhawks last season. Rumors happened concerning a scandal involving himself and rising star Connor Bedard's mom; however, those were quickly dismissed. It actually came out that he acted inappropriately at one of the team's functions, which resulted in the release of his contract. The Oilers picked him up shortly thereafter. As it has been, Corey Perry's career was a brilliant resume of himself. He suited up in 1,311 games and scored 429 goals, while adding 476 assists, summing up to 905 points in total. The 1,426 penalty minutes just about show how physical his style of play is. Chalk up a Stanley Cup win with the Ducks back in 2007 and two Olympic gold medals with Team Canada in both 2010 and 2014, and you have yourself an NHL legend.

At 39, Corey Perry seems to be set to retire with the Oilers after his run back to the Stanley Cup finals last season. He is surely preparing for a last gasp in the NHL, it would appear.
