Senior Sportsnet columnist for the Edmonton Oilers, Mark Spector, is currently catching a lot of backlash on social media for xenophobic comments made on X.

The comment was made in a 'question and answer' post Mark put on his X account while he was on a flight. One of the questions he received was about the future of the Vancouver Canucks success and their compete level in upcoming seasons. Mark went on to make this response to the question,

"Perfect coach for that team.
Miller excellent leader. Hughes will grow. Good D.
Many skill guys either small or perimeter guys. Got pushed out - EL40 esp.
Depth can't all be Euro skill guys. Some? Sure - not all.
Need more Saskatchewan, less Stockholm."

This comment did not sit well with many people and there was plenty evidence to prove that Mark Spector was not a liked person on X. Here are a few replies to Spector's response to the question,

This comment clearly did not go over well and many members of the hockey community are calling for potential disciplinary action taken towards Mark as many do not agree with his dividing comments.

They call this type of behaviour from Mark "racist" and "dividing" which is not what the sport needs as it continues to grow to further markets and becomes one of the most exciting sports for everyone and anyone to watch.
