Veteran forward Vladimir Tarasenko, fresh off winning his second Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers, is now hitting the free agent market in search of a new contract. Just a little over a week after hoisting the Cup, Tarasenko is looking for a new deal following the expiration of his eight-year contract worth $7.5 million per season. He was dealt from the St Louis Blues, where he won a cup in 2019, to the New York Rangers last season before signing with the Ottawa Senators last Summer. At this year's deadline, he was traded to Florida.

According to Josh Yoe of the Athletic, the Pittsburgh Penguins are interested, but Tarasenko would need to agree to a lower salary to join Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Hearing Penguins made an offer to Vladimir Tarasenko. Only have around $4.3 million in cap space. Other teams have interest in him, obviously. While a return to Florida isn't out of the question, Panthers GM Bill Zito is being cautious with his spending. Zito may decide later in the offseason whether to bring back the veteran forward. This wouldn't be out of character as Tarasenko took last year's sweepstakes late into the offseason too. As evidenced by his five goals and four assists over 22 playoff games during Florida's championship run, he can still produce effectively. Originally drafted 16th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2010 NHL Draft, Tarasenko has notched 293 goals and 629 points over 751 career games with the Blues, Rangers, Senators, and Panthers.
