The Montreal Canadiens are set to play the Utah Hockey Club tonight, but they will likely do so without their star rookie as he was hit by a car last night.

It seems like just days after NHL player Michael Bunting of the Pittsburgh Penguins was involved in a car accident, another star player was as well.

Reports out of an agency in Sweden seem to indicate that an NHL rookie of the Montreal Canadiens was involved in a car accident in Utah ahead of tonight's game against the Utah Hockey Club.

"Right now we are waiting for an update from North America. He has been hit by a car, but it is nothing very serious. Maybe a broken ankle and a specialist will look at the injury."

The player in question is Emil Heineman, and his agent, Marcus Isaksson, did confirm the incident but wouldn't elaborate any further.

That could be a huge blow for the surging Montreal Canadiens. An impressive season thus far has seen Heineman score 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points in 41 games this season.

In fact, over the last month, he's outproduced Philadelphia Flyers phenom Matvei Michkov.

A training camp invitee in September, he bucked all odds to make the roster and fast-tracked himself into being a valuable contributor.

Recovery timeline has been revealed for Emil Heineman

The Montreal Canadiens finally did comment on the incident, and they announced that Heineman was indeed involved in the car accident and that he would be out for three to four weeks.

Emil Heineman was involved in a traffic accident yesterday as a pedestrian. Heineman sustained an upper-body injury and will be out 3-4 weeks.

Fans of the Canadiens are no doubt wishing Heineman a speedy recovery and are hopeful he can get back on the ice soon enough.
