Patrik Laine suffered a brutal knee injury in the pre-season, and now he's opening up about it, including a conversation with Toronto's Cedric Pare.

This pre-season hasn't been a good one for injuries in Montreal, and while the worst was feared for star forward Patrik Laine, he has managed to escape surgery and will reportedly be ready to return in 2-3 months. Now, No. 92 has been the face of a press conference in Montreal where he aimed to address all things related to his injury and the situation surrounding it.

One of the first things that Laine addressed was the injury itself sustained by a collision with Cedric Pare, where the star Canadiens forward took some responsibility for the situation he was in, while also revealing Pare's acts after the fact.

«Patrik Laine says he doesn't blame Paré for his injury; he says he put himself in a bad position from the start. Laine says Paré texted him afterward, and he respects him for that.»

That's a great sign from Pare, who was seen smiling in his interviews after the game, but to know that he took the time to reach out to Laine following the injury is a major plus for the young forward. Beyond that, Laine simply talks about staying positive during a very tough time, revealing that he'll be back on the ice this season as they look to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs as a young group.

«It's fun to be with my Canadiens teammates. Obviously, I'd rather be on the ice, but I avoided a disaster with my knee. It could have been much worse. I'm still not happy about my injury, but that's how it is. I'm just trying to stay positive, but we'll be back, we'll be back»

Obviously, this situation is good for absolutely no one, but Laine's positivity in the face of what could have been a brutal injury is refreshing, and with confidence he'll be back at 100% with a significant stretch of the season left, this will be a team to watch in 2024/25.
