It appears that Pittsburgh Penguins fans are going to have defenseman Erik Karlsson in the lineup for the season opener, which is exactly what they want to hear.

Karlsson spoke to the media recently, and it sounds like he's confident about being ready to go when the puck drops this Wednesday October 9 against the New York Rangers at PPG Paints Arena.

Karlsson said he's feeling «good enough» and that starting on time was always the plan. It doesn't seem like he was too worried about missing games; he was just being cautious, which makes sense this time of year. No need to push too hard in preseason.

He did mention the injury happened during the offseason while he was working out-sounds like he might've been pushing himself too hard, feeling like he's got some extra juice in him.

The key for him was taking the necessary time off to heal, and the 34 year-old managed that well.

Let's hope this precautions version of Karlsson is as dominant as we know he can be when the real games start.

After a subpar 11 goal 56 point campaign, he's seeking to rebound and get back to his Norris Trophy winning form from 2023 when he was with the San Jose Sharks.
