Cody Glass is welcomed to the Penguins by fans who feel like they just acquired another scrub player, so he fires right back at them. On August 13th the Penguins announced a trade with the Predators which involved Cody Glass with a couple of picks coming to Pittsburgh for Jordan Frasca.

It did not take long for some fans to show their disappointment with this. Glass was supposed to be a promising talent, being picked 7th in the 2017 draft. He has not lived or played up to his hockey potential. The Penguins will be his third team, playing his first two years in Vegas, and the following three in Nashville. In those 5 years he has played in 187 games, with a total of 71 points. The highlight season was in the 2022-23 campaign as a Predator where he played in 72 games and scored 35 points (14G, 21 A). One Penguin fan specifically called him out as a scrub who's team (the Penguins) is already burdened by large contracts and older players. Glass did not hesitate to chirp back at this comment.

And just like that Cody Glass started to build some fans in Pittsburgh and around the league.

Maybe it takes something like this for the fans to get behind him, as well as to get his engine going and prove these types of commenters wrong. Having such a great juniors career it would be nice to see Glass perform well in Pittsburgh. He has just this year under contract at $2.5 million. Maybe if he can pull off a Michael Bunting type of resurgence, the Penguins could have found a gem in Glass.
