Well known insider proposes likely trade between Oilers and Flames

Oilers insider Bob Stauffer has proposed a realistic trade that would see prominent Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson sent to Edmonton.

Bob Stauffer mentioned this possible trade on a recent episode of OilersNow. He stated that Stan Bowman would look to try and improve his team's defense if they end up losing Philip Broberg to the St. Louis Blues due to the offer sheet. Rasmus Andersson would be the Oilers target.

Bob Stauffer believes that the trade would involve the Oilers sending a 1st round draft pick, as well as the 2nd round pick they would get from the Blues for losing Broberg, and Brett Kulak in exchange for Rasmus Andersson. The Flames are in rebuild mode next season and would love receiving all of these draft picks.

Rasmus Andersson is only 27-years-old and still has two years left on his contract. His salary is currently $4.5M per year. Andersson has scored 20 goals and 88 points over the last two seasons and has only missed a total of seven games. These are good numbers despite being on a weak Flames team, so one can only imagine the success he would have on a powerhouse Oilers team.

It's guaranteed that the Oilers are going to be making roster changes within the next seven days due to these offer sheets, and all signs point to Edmonton not having enough money to match them. Should the Oilers lose both players, especially Broberg, they are going to be very aggressive in their attempt to fill in that big hole on the back end.
