Teams who potentially could land Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby in a trade are revealed

Crosby still has one year remaining on his contract and with no extension being reached as of yet, he could be a potential big gun for hire at the trade deadline.

Fans all want to see their favorite player, the franchise player, remain with their team throughout their whole career. The great one Wayne Gretzky was moved a handful of times, so that prospect is not the norm.

Take Ray Bourque for example, who was moved by the trade deadline so that he had the opportunity to win a Stanley Cup. Others like Mark Messier who won multiple Cups were still traded in pursuit of another cup dream.

So now, we have 37-year-old Sidney Crosby who is still performing at a top level. He has a hall of fame resume already, but like any competitor, still wants to win. The Penguins are in a phase right now missing the playoffs for two straight years of a semi-rebuild. They are trying to get younger but keep their older core players together as well.

It is very likely he will sign with Pittsburgh and stay a Penguin for life. But if he was to get traded say, as a rental player for prospects and young players to help the Penguins now, he could potential resign again after one more run elsewhere while still helping the Pens rebuild.

It is a crazy thought, but here are potential locations that Travis Yost with TSN put together that could use a rental player such as Crosby to make a run at the Cup.

Obviously, some of the teams at the lower end of the chart would double their chances and improvement with a player like Sid. Edmonton, not too much change. But Colorado, New Jersey, Toronto and Las Vegas could really see an upside large enough to take them to the next level.

While we can all speculate how much better a team can become with Crosby, it is most likely just that, speculation. He will most likely stay a Penguin for life. But seeing Crosby in another NHL jersey as wild as it would look, is always still possible until that extension is finalized.
