The Maple Leaf's are looking to improvement their defense this off-season and one trade pitch has them landing Adam Larsson of the Kraken in a conceptual deal. Adam Larsson was draft back in 2011 as the 4th overall pick. Since then, he has really gotten his game together as a member of the Seattle Kraken. Since the Kraken do not have much of a chance to get to the Stanley Cup, the use of a GM tool on PuckPedia has proposed a trade that would land Toronto a much-needed blue liner. The trade would have Larsson coming to the Leafs, with the Kraken receiving in return David Kampf, Timothy Liljegren and 2025 second round draft pick (received from Florida). Larsson is 31 years old and entering the last year of his 4-year $16 million contract with Seattle. He played in 81 games for the Kraken last year, totaling 18 points (4G, 16A).

He would project to fit in to the Maple Leaf's lineup as a second line defender. As a right-handed shot, he would make Toronto much more difficult to play. Seattle would get younger, with Liljegren being 25 years old and a former first round pick who can project to play more often than he would on Toronto. In fact, he would be considered for a top six forward. He was just signed for a two-year extension this off-season for $6 million.

Brad Treliving has made it well known that the Leafs were looking for defenseman as a main priority during the draft on June 29th. «Well, I think there's lots of priorities. I think for us, I don't think it's a secret. Our defense is an area that we'd like to see if we can improve.» He did just that with signing Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson to multi-year deals. We will see if there are any further deals lined up, but for now, this trade option seems to be something that could work well for both teams involved.
