A critical update was received by Craig Berube regarding the fall William Nylander took in last night's pre-season game against the Montreal Canadiens. In the pre-season game last night, Nick Robertson appears to use his stick blade to push Nylander, causing him to fall forward and into the knee of Kirby Dach of the Canadiens.

The incident occured in the first period with around 7:45 left in the period while Toronto was up 1-0. Nylander remained on the ice for a few seconds and then skated off on his own power.

With Austin Matthews already out with an injury that was suffered during practice, Toronto fans held their breath during this collision. But we have now heard from head coach Craig Berube on Nylander's condition, and it appears that it was not serious.

Earlier, John Tavares also appeared to get hurt during the game when he suffered a cheap shot.

Tavares was able to return to the game and scored the goal to give Toronto the 1-0 lead before the Nylander collision. It was good to see Tavares back and hear that Nylander will be okay, with the injuries that seem to be plaguing the Toronto locker room as of late. With this being the pre-season there is no need to put a player back in if there is any doubt it could cause more harm. It was precautionary for Berube to not let Nylander return to the game, and a good call. What caused this incident to occur was an innocent shove by Robertson to Nylander. Robertson commented when asked about the incident, saying that he was trying to give him a boost and that it was a tough play.

Toronto will play the Canadiens again tomorrow night at the Bell centre. Faceoff is set for 7pm.
