The Toronto Maple Leafs have struggled to find success during their first-round series against the Boston Bruins. The struggles have now created doubt about the future of Mitch Marner in Toronto. In the Maple Leafs' most recent loss to the Boston Bruins chaos broke loose between several stars on the Maple Leafs. Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner could all be seen shouting at one another.

Since that loss, many have ripped on Mitch Marner and wanted him traded after this season is done. In his new 32 Thoughts Podcast episode Elliotte Friedman admitted that if the Maple Leafs do not pull off the comeback in their series they are looking at a core four breakup. This is the end for this group (core 4) if they don't pull off a big comeback

Mitch Marner has one year left on his contract and a no-trade clause. Despite this the deterioration of the relationship on all sides could be enough to get Mitch Marner to agree to a trade. Regardless something needs to change to bring excitement and new blood into the Maple Leafs organization.
