The Maple Leafs are suffering through a tremendous amount of injured players, and today the team announced they placed one forward on LTIR and one on IR.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a pair of roster moves involving their injured important players.

Max Domi went on IR retroactive to November 16 with a lower-body injury. With that in mind, the 29-year-old forward Domi will not feature in tonight's action against the Vegas Golden Knights but would be qualified to return this Sunday's game.

Domi had been playing through the injury but has been noticeably absent from recent practices. The team determined the injury required rest to prevent further aggravation.

To fill Domi's roster spot, the Leafs recalled winger Nikita Grebenkin from the AHL's Toronto Marlies. This marks the first NHL call-up for Grebenkin, who has impressed in the minors this season.

With the lower-body injury in the game with the Montreal Canadiens on November 9, Max Pacioretty was placed on long-term injured reserve.

During the injury, Pacioretty had collided with Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson and immediately grabbed the back of his left leg.

Under LTIR rules, the 35-year-old forward must miss at least 10 games and 24 days, so his earliest possible return would come Dec. 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Leafs GM Brad Treliving said the team is hopeful the injury isn't as bad as initially thought, but Pacioretty has yet to resume skating.

Pacioretty signed a one-year deal with the Leafs on Oct. 7, following a professional tryout during training camp.

In 13 games this season, he has scored two goals, added four assists, and averaged 12:11 of ice time.

With the salary cap extremely tight and injuries continuing to pile up, the Maple Leafs recently placed forward David Kampf on IR with a lower-body injury. Recalled from the Marlies in a corresponding move was Fraser Minten.

As it is, the timeline of Kampf's return remains uncertain, and the team will certainly have to juggle their roster and cap space as injuries keep piling up.

The Leafs embark on a crucial period with several key players shelved. These roster moves are going to put depth to the test as upcoming games get underway.
