Less than 24 hours after suffering a scary and potentially serious injury during a game between the Avalanche and Flyers we now have an update on referee Mitch Dunning. The NHL community over the last 24 hours has had Mitch Dunning in their thoughts after he suffered what looked to be a serious health concern after a hit from Josh Manson. After colliding with Josh Manson <a href='https://www.hockeylatest.com/nhl/injuries/awful-moment-occurs-during-the-flyers-and-avalanche-game-as-referee-mitch-dunning-is-strechered-off-the-ice' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>team trainers came out to attend to Mitch Dunning and he was eventually taken off the ice on a stretcher.</a> From there Mitch Dunning was taken to the hospital for further evaluations and some reports had indicated he was being tested for potential serious back injuries. This evening a report has come out from several sources that has given a major update on Mitch Dunning's health and prognosis going forward. <h3>New update provided on injured referee Mitch Dunning</h3> According to an update provided this evening from NHL insider Frank Seravalli, we have good news on Mitch Dunning. In a new post on X, Frank Seravalli confirmed that Mitch Dunning was released from the hospital and avoided any major injuries. Anytime the stretcher is brought out for a player or a referee theories begin to be crafted and many of them involve the worst-case scenarios. Luckily the injury to Mitch Dunning did not end in tragedy and it sounds as though he will be able to return to the ice soon and continue living out his life as an NHL referee.
