Today Ryan Reaves was seen at the Toronto Maple Leafs facility for the first time since being suspended and after practice, an additional punishment from the team was revealed. Over the last several days Ryan Reaves has been the center of attention for both Toronto Maple Leafs fans and Edmonton Oilers fans. All of the attention comes after Ryan Reaves was ejected against the Oilers for a dirty hit on Darnell Nurse that led to an injury for the Oilers' defenseman. A day later the NHL Department of Player Safety would lay the hammer down on Reaves and suspend him for five games. Since being suspended Ryan Reaves has been away from the team and not seen around the Toronto Maple Leafs facility. Today that changed as Ryan Reaves joined the Maple Leafs for practice while he serves his suspension.

After practice the media was excited to potentially hear from Ryan Reaves and get his side of the story when it comes to what happened on the play that led to his suspension. Unfortunately, a team-imposed rule from the Toronto Maple Leafs blocked this from happening.
Toronto Maple Leafs block the media from interviewing Ryan Reaves
While in the locker room, the media were looking around for Ryan Reaves hoping to ask him questions. According to reports from Nick Barden when the media approached Ryan Reaves, he seemed ready to answer questions but was swiftly taken away by the Maple Leafs Media Relations team. When the forward entered the locker room following practice on Tuesday, reporters confronted Reaves, who seemed eager to speak about the suspension. However, the Maple Leafs' media relations team shut it down, saying he's not speaking today. -Nick Barden

This is strange considering teams are able to allow players to speak despite being suspended by the NHL so clearly this was a deliberate move by the Maple Leafs. At the end of the day this just means the media and fans will have to wait a few more days to hear Ryan Reaves side of the story once he does return from his suspension officially.
