Today Mitch Marner and William Nylander addressed the media and responded to being booed off the ice against the Dallas Stars last night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered a frustrating 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars last night collapsing after taking a 1-0 lead.

With the loss the Maple Leafs find themselves just one point ahead of the Florida Panthers in the Atlantic Division and on a three-game losing streak.

During the loss to the Stars, the Maple Leafs were booed off the ice by their home fans.

This morning several key members of the Maple Leafs including Craig Berube, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander all spoke to the media about the team's recent slide and the fan reaction.

Nylander and Marner clap back at fans for boos after loss to the Stars

First head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media and did not seem to mind the reaction from the fans understanding that this is just kind of how things go in the NHL and the fans pay the money to be able to show their emotion and passion.

It's everywhere. They do it in every rink, don't they? I mean, it's part of the game. They pay good money, and they come to see hockey, and they want to see us win. So, that's, you know, that's the way it goes

As for Marner and Nylander, they were not quite as understanding as Berube when it came to the fans' disappointment.

Marner admitted that his approach when hearing the boos is to try and just block it out and ignore the fans and move forward working to get back on track.

Just try to ignore it, Marner said after being booed at home during a loss to the Dallas Stars. "We're just trying to do our job out there and go out and put together a full 60. And, you know, we got a good practice today, a good video session. We've got to get to work tomorrow.

Nylander was a bit more direct and annoyed by the question admitting the fans' reaction to their play does not matter to him and the belief between himself and his teammates is the only thing that he cares about.

It doesn't really matter if they boo. I mean, we know we're a good team, so, yeah.

Ultimately the Maple Leafs remain in first place in the Eastern Conference and their current struggles will likely be a small bump in the road on the way to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

However, if the Maple Leafs players continue to belittle the fans' reactions and frustration it could lead to backlash and resentment that will not be good to deal with when the season does eventually come to an end.
