Heading into a contract year, many would expect Mitch Marner to be working hard this summer, but now Leafs fans are furious with his social media activity.

For years now, Mitch Marner has copped plenty of criticism from Toronto Maple Leafs fans, and after another underwhelming playoff performance, it's been at an all-time high this summer, with many calling for the team to do anything they can to move him. With training camp approaching, they're yet to do that to the pending 2025 free agent, but now, he has pushed plenty of people over the edge on social media.

Over the past week, photos of Marner have emerged on X posted by his wife, and unsurprisingly, fans were absolutely brutal in the comments.

"Wonder if he rides around the perimeter of the lake too," commented one user, referencing Marner's preference to play on the outside during the playoffs when checking is much tighter.

What makes the backlash for Marner worse is Max Domi, who has spent all off-season posting videos of him working out and getting ready for the 2024/25 season, and it didn't take long for fans to reference this clear difference.

Ultimately, players are allowed and encouraged to enjoy their lives outside of hockey, but given how crucial this season is to Marner, who is seemingly becoming less and less popular in Toronto, he needs to read the room better and be a little more intentional about his posts on social media.
