NHL insider David Pagnotta has recently stated the player that is nearly certain to be shipped out of Toronto, and who his replacement could possibly be.

According to NHL insider David Pagnotta of 'The Fourth Period', who joined 'The Leafs Nation' podcast, Nick Robertson isn't a lock to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He said the team will likely make some moves regarding their cap space once they get healthy, and that could likely involve moving Nick Robertson.

"I think Nick Robertson is the guy that's gonzo. Forget about the top-six, obviously that's not happening.

Nick's still available, he's still out there, everybody knows he's a piece that Toronto is willing to trade and because you're going to have guys coming back from injury....you gotta create a little bit of cap space.

Robertson's probably going to be the guy who's out."

David Pagnotta also added that he didn't see Mitch Marner going anywhere anytime soon since he would most likely be playing out his deal in Toronto, which means the focus will then shift to the Leafs trying their very best to sign him this summer.

Pagnotta is convinced someone from the Leafs will be moved, and he is very confident that won't be Mitch Marner, but it will definitely be someone else, and Robertson is a name that is likely at the top of that list.

Pierre LeBrun from 'The Athletic' tied Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde to the Maple Leafs as one possible solution to address their need for a center on the third line.

Yanni Gourde, who has recently emerged as a trade candidate for Seattle, is signed for a hair over $5.1 million for the rest of the season.

The Leafs would be taking on more salary cap than they could send out in a trade, even if Seattle were to retain some of Gourde's salary. This season, Gourde has five goals and 15 points in 32 games, a modest output compared to recent seasons.

Cap space remains a significant concern for Toronto, and even moving Robertson, one of their more inexpensive forwards, would leave the Leafs needing additional moves in order to balance their books.

Barring an injury to a key player such as William Nylander or Morgan Rielly, that would keep him out for the season, the Leafs are unlikely to make more than one or two moves.

Should any major injuries affect the team, their lineup could look quite different if multiple trades are then made.
