With NHL rosters being finalized it has been confirmed that Nick Robertson will start the regular season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and he has now spoken about the news.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will begin their 2024-25 NHL season with several new faces in the lineup. One of those faces that will play on opening night for the first time is Nick Robertson. Despite having several stints on the NHL roster Nick Robertson has never been on the roster out of training camp. Earlier this week it was confirmed by Brad Treliving that Nick Robertson would get the opportunity.

Yeah, said Treliving on The FAN590 when asked if Robertson's play made it undeniable. He's certainly had a great camp. He's been really committed away from the puck and relentless on the forecheck.

With training camp and preseason finally coming to an end the reality of making the NHL roster has begun to set in for Nick Robertson. This led to Nick Robertson being asked about making his opening night debut and what special plans he has for the game.

Nick Robertson reveals how excited he is to make the opening night roster

In a new interview with the Toronto media, Nick Robertson was asked what it felt like to finally be rewarded by making an opening night roster. He confirmed it is a huge accomplishment and that his parents will be in attendance for the games coming up.

It means a lot, he said. I was actually talking to my parents about it, they're going to come up for it. It was something I was thinking about coming into camp & I'm glad it could start like that.

Of course, this offseason was incredibly turbulent for both Nick Robertson and the Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs hired new head coach Craig Berube. Then Nick Robertson requested a trade due to a lack of NHL opportunities. However, now it seems that he has impressed Craig Berube and Brad Treliving and all of that could be behind him. He still recognizes he has to continue performing to keep his spot.

It means a lot, he said. I was actually talking to my parents about it, they're going to come up for it. It was something I was thinking about coming into camp & I'm glad it could start like that.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have incredibly high expectations coming into the 2024-25 NHL season. If Nick Robertson or other fringe players begin to struggle the Maple Leafs now have other options who could easily be replacements. Now that Nick Robertson is finally getting his chance it could be a make-or-break season for him.
