The Maple Leafs are set to take on the Nashville Predators tomorrow night, and the team has just provided a Max Domi status update for that game. Max Domi has not played for Toronto since Nov. 16 due to a lower-body injury and is still on injured reserve. He's having a pretty rough year, but the Toronto Maple Leafs seem to value him at least in part because he's the son of a former fan-favorite enforcer. Still, he may be out for a little while longer.

As David Alter of 'The Hockey News' says, Domi took part in practice in an extras jersey, which would suggest he won't play on Wednesday. Mark Masters confirmed this as well.

It's a setback for Domi as he tries to get his game going. After posting six points in the first six games, he has yet to register a point since then and hasn't scored a goal since last April. Coach Craig Berube had been hopeful for Domi's return to the lineup, and might now consider that move as premature.

While Domi provided an immediate spark as the extra attacker and provided potential puck possession well suited to the Maple Leafs, they have hardly seemed to miss him. With Matthews and Matthew Knies returning on Monday, each recording a goal, Toronto's attack has been taking on a new dimension. It's just one of those seasons for Domi. Being on that favored line to start the year with Bobby McMann and William Nylander, he's just not able to get going it seems. Whether due to his injury or not, he's been subpar on both offense and defense since returning from the injury. They cannot afford to bring back Domi too early, especially when the team is playing so well. When Domi does return, he will need to perform and validate his extension. If his issues run deeper, due to health problems that have nagged him, Toronto will need to consider trading him to better their roster.
