Today a new report has revealed that the Boston Bruins have now been linked to trade talks with the Vancouver Canucks. Throughout the last month trade reports surrounding the Vancouver Canucks, Elias Pettersson, and J.T. Miller have intensified. With a trade seeming more likely as Miller and Pettersson continue to not get along inside the Canucks locker room teams have now begun to check in on the superstars and make preliminary offers. To this point the Canucks have been firm in the idea that they are not willing to trade either player but insider reports seem less confident that the Canucks can work themselves out of this without a trade. This evening a report from Marco D'Amico has confirmed that the Boston Bruins are one of the teams looking to land either Pettersson or Miller.
Boston Bruins linked to Vancouver Canucks stars amidst turmoil
According to D'Amico's latest report, the Bruins are looking to get younger at the center position and would likely covet Pettersson in an ideal world. Of course, the Canucks have the ultimate last say when it comes to who gets dealt in this scenario. I don't know who for sure, but I know the Bruins want to get deeper and younger up the middle and not older, the source said. That seems like Pettersson, but it's not about who they want; it's about who the Canucks decide to move on from.

D'Amico points out that the Bruins do have the young pieces to pull off a blockbuster trade at this year's NHL Trade Deadline. According to D'Amico's source, the Canucks would likely want a package including the following: A top-6 center or top-4 defenseman A top prospect or a first-round pick 'depending on where the acquiring team would likely be picking.' In the case of the Bruins this likely means giving up several young players like Matthew Poitras or Mason Lohrei along with a roster player that is currently in the top half of their lineup. With the deadline still a few months away there is plenty of time for a trade to materialize. If the Canucks decide to move on from Pettersson or Miller look for the Bruins to be a prime candidate to swoop in and land whichever the Canucks decide to move.
