The Vancouver Canucks season continues to be a rollercoaster and today former head coach Bruce Boudreau addressed the recent injury to Quinn Hughes.

On Sunday the Vancouver Canucks confirmed that star players Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are both dealing with injuries.

The injury to both players is of course frustrating for the Canucks and now fans the media are eagerly awaiting an update on whether the injuries will keep either player out long-term.

According to an update yesterday Pettersson's injury is considered less severe while Hughes could be out for multiple weeks.

While the evaluation process is playing out former Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau spoke about what the team might be facing if they are out long term.

In particular, Boudreau believes that the absence of Hughes if it becomes long term could ruin the Canucks season.

Bruce Boudreau believes the Canucks could be in major trouble without Quinn Hughes

In a new segment for TSN former head coach Bruce Boudreau spoke about the injury to Hughes and pointed out what many already know Hughes is invaluable to that team.

Boudreau made the point that the Canucks do not have another offensive puck-moving defenseman that can come even close to picking up the slack left by Hughes' absence.

So, I mean, like on the power play, he's the key. He's probably, in my estimation, I've said this many times, the best passer in the NHL right now. And I mean, without him, like you could survive without anybody for short periods of time. But when you read week to week, if that's longer than, two weeks, then things are bad

While there is no news on Hughes or Pettersson's injury the Canucks have a razor-thin margin to be able to stay in the Stanley Cup Playoffs at the moment.

Losing one or potentially both star players could be an absolute body blow to their season especially if it is to a serious injury.

Over the next couple of days, the Canucks will likely provide more definitive timelines on the status of Hughes and Pettersson.

As those updates are provided we will pass along that news to you.
