The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars are set to play game five tonight in Dallas. Ahead of the game, Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy announced an interesting move as he will be going to Adin Hill in net instead of Logan Thompson.

ESPN reporter Emily Kaplan was the first to reveal this news this morning as she covered the morning skate for the Golden Knights. While the announcement had not been made official yet, she noted that Hill appeared to be the starter based on his role at morning skate.

At Golden Knights morning skate in Dallas.looks like Adin Hill is in the starter net for Vegas.

Fan response to the move was largely confused, as Thompson has been lights-out in the playoffs so far. Without Thompson's efforts, this series very well could be over already.

Not exactly sure what Logan Thompson did to deserve this

The only goaltender outperforming Thompson so far has been Bruins netminder Jeremy Swayman, who was one of the best goalies in the regular season as well. Thus, the move does not seem to make a ton of sense for the Golden Knights.

Thompson is putting up the second best numbers in the post-season lol

However, head coach Bruce Cassidy later explained his decision to start Hill after morning skate. He basically explained how Hill has more experience in the playoffs, having been the starter last year on the way to the team winning their first ever Stanley Cup. He also revealed that the team planned on using both netminders from the beginning.

"The decision is, start of the playoffs, we figured we'd probably use both goaltenders. It's how we ran our team this year. You never know how it's going to play out. I thought Logan played well, put us in a good spot. It's 2-2. He's done his job. Adin has been through that so that's a little bit of what goes into the decision. He's an experienced guy whose come into the situation before."

Still though, this feels like an opportunity for the Stars to get that ever important 3-2 series advantage. Outside of sophomore center Wyatt Johnston, the Stars have had a hard time getting pucks past Logan Thompson. Expecting Hill to play just as well if not better is a very high bar, one that Dallas' lethal offense may be able to break.
