NHL insider David Pagnotta recently provided some clarity as to who exactly the Jets are looking to target in the days leading up to the NHL trade deadline.

David Pagnotta of 'The Fourth Period' joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio's 'Power Play' show with Martin Biron and Steve Kouleas to discuss potential trade deadline deals between the Winnipeg Jets and Washington Capitals, the two best teams in the league.

Kouleas got things underway with talk of the Jets' recent play and the Capitals offseason signings, and asking Pagnotta what each team can do to improve themselves for a strong playoff run.

Pagnotta noted that both teams are shopping but don't wish to disrupt their current chemistry. Washington possesses around $3.6 million of cap room and is scouting out possibilities without disrupting the balance of their lineup.

Pagnotta believes the Jets will look for depth more than a massive splash

Winnipeg also is happy with its line but could attempt to solidify the bottom six or add depth at defense, something both teams are seeking.

There has been talk Winnipeg could make quite a large trade, but if they do it, it will be in the offseason and not as a rental move at the deadline. Right now, both teams are more apt to do small, complementary moves than tear down their core.

Finally, the Jets and Capitals seem assured in their respective rosters at present but are not averse to making slight adjustments that may enhance their depth going into the playoffs.

With only six days to go until the trade deadline, the rest of this week is shaping up to be quite the thriller. Fans, get your popcorn ready.
