With the Rookie Tournament now over, we can now look to the future. Many of the Habs' prospects did well, some newly drafted prospects impressed, and there was one player in particular who was never drafted, who turned a lot of heads. It was Arber Xhekaj. The giant-sized defenseman has done just about everything right on the ice. He has a good first pass, is fairly mobile considering his size and plays very tough. Speaking on BPM Sports this morning, journalist Marc-André Perreault was pretty convincing about Xhekaj's future in Montreal: My contacts at the Habs are clear, Arber Xhekaj will play in the NHL one day and he will be a crowd favorite. - Marc-Andre Perreault

Arber Xhekaj is the kind of player who is hated by his opponents, but adored by his teammates. In addition to being very solid and strong, his progression is constant and very impressive. He is without a doubt the successor to Alexei Emelin and Alexander Romanov in terms of toughness.
