A target has already been identified for Kent Hughes this summer and it could be a great move

There could be a lot of movement during the summer for the Montreal Canadiens. During his end-of-season review, general manager Kent Hughes repeatedly stated that he wants to continue in the same vein as last year, that is, to rebuild the team with acquisitions that could accelerate the process in the short, but especially in the long term.

A target that could possibly follow this objective for Hughes has been identified, as according to Frank Seravalli's information, a talented defenseman would be available on the free agent market this summer.

It's a Swede named Hardy Haman Aktell, who is 24 years old and was a fourth-round pick in 2016 by the Nashville Predators. He is a right-handed back, which falls directly into the needs of the Habs, in addition to having a rather impressive size of 6 feet 4 inches and 200 pounds.

This season, in Europe's top league, Aktell has 36 points, including 9 goals, in 51 games. For those who are not familiar with this league, this is a really solid production, especially for a defenseman, since he doesn't score many goals in the SHL.

He was the second highest scorer on his entire team this season, only two points behind the leader, and was one of the most productive defensemen in Sweden.

The advantage of signing such a player is that he should not cost the team much, since he is still unproven in the NHL.

However, his profile is really interesting for a team like the Habs, who want to find an intriguing talent to potentially make a big splash. He could add great depth to the organization, which is sorely lacking in talent on the right side of the defense.
