For the majority of people, the beer hockey league is a fun way to for more casual hockey fans to continue playing hockey in a tournament setting with less of a competitive edge.

It's fun, and allows people who aren't necessarily NHL material to experience the thrill of playing competitive hockey. In general, it's not taken too seriously and most people are just there to have a good time.

Every so often though, like in most fun, competitive things, there's one player who'll not understand this concept and take things way too far, such as the situation displayed in the twitter video below:

In the video, you can see the player in red viciously and ruthlessly attack a member of the opposing team for seemingly little reason. I get it, things can get competitive sometimes, and hockey is no exception, with fights during games being extremely common.

The issue here is how needlessly violent the player in red was, seemingly tripping the other player and then proceeding to ruthlessly slam him over the back with his stick before going down to the ground himself to pummel him more.

This goes way beyond a simple hockey fight and crosses into criminal assault territory, especially when you consider that this is the beer league. I am one-hundred percent sure the player in red will be removed from the league, but whether he will actually be criminally charged is still up in the air.
