Sharing his views on various NHL controversies is something that Brad Marchand, a seasoned NHL player, has never shied away from. On Thursday, he weighed in on a contentious topic in the league.

A frequently raised point in NHL discussions is the suggestion that the league should revert to its previous playoff format.

The ongoing debate centers on whether the NHL should abandon the current seeding system in favor of the previous Conference-style seeding, also referred to as the 1v8 format.

Brad Marchand has added his voice to the discussion, sharing his thoughts on the matter.

''You have the top-3 teams in one division. You have three teams that should be going deep, [two] are playing against each other in the first round. ... So I think we should go back to the one versus eight.''

Like several other players, Brad Marchand is among those who advocate for a revision of the current playoff format. Sidney Crosby is another prominent player who supports a return to the old format.

The previous playoff format, which employed Conference-style seeding or the 1v8 format, was in use for two decades, from 1993, before being replaced by the current format in 2013.
