The Montreal Canadiens will have an important decision to make with their goaltenders for the upcoming season.

Why? Because Cayden Primeau will not be able to return to Laval without going through the waivers, which represents a serious risk for the Montreal organization.

Although many seem to have thrown in the towel with his potential, it is important to remember that Primeau is only 23 years old, and remains a very interesting project to become a legitimate number one goalie in the NHL one day.

That being said, since the Tricolore will have three goalies with valid NHL contracts, according to what Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports, the CH could make an unexpected decision with their goalies and go into next season with three goalies on the big club.

Wow!

From what we can understand, if Kent Hughes doesn't manage to get an interesting price for his veteran Jake Allen, and if no transaction materializes before the next campaign, all three could stay with the Habs. So, there would still be one in the stands.

Not an ideal scenario, especially for a young player like Primeau who needs to play games to keep progressing.

Moreover, having three goalies in the regular lineup also means that there will be one less spot for a skater.

In short, Hughes' summer is likely to be very busy again this year!
