Arber Xhekaj with the Rocket? We have confirmation of the Montreal Canadiens' plans

Let's face it, Arber Xhekaj had a very ordinary, not to say bad, training camp. He's capable of much better. He's not just a glove-throwing goon, he knows how to play hockey.

Conversely, Mattias Norlinder had a fantastic camp, so much so that he's still with the team. Xhekaj was rumoured to be heading to Laval at the start of the season, and now we have confirmation.

According to the pairs of defensemen formed during training sessions in Mont-Tremblant, Xhekaj was on the right of the 3rd pair, with two right-handers behind. Justin Barron, Gustav Lindstrom and Mattias Norlinder were the three extra defensemen.

The fact that Xhekaj is training on the 3rd pair on the right and that there are two right-handers behind him, in addition to Mailloux in Laval, is very revealing of the club's intentions. He'll stay with the team and start the season in Montreal.

Barring a major surprise, you can immediately stop believing the rumours that number 72 is headed for Laval.
