According to Frank Seravalli, Ryan Merkley, the 2018 draft's 21st overall pick, has been placed on the trade market.

Sources say #sjsharks have made 2018 first-round pick D Ryan Merkley available. Merkley recently requested a trade and Sharks are trying to accommodate.

Merkley, 22, has played 39 NHL games and still has waiver eligibility.

Merkley played 39 games for the Sharks last season, but he still hasn't completely settled in San Jose. He has primarily played for the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL.

Merkley, who is only 22 years old, is a fantastic potential to take a swing at. There aren't many young right-handed defenseman with an offensive mindset.

His fall in the 2018 draft was primarily due to attitude issues, but if a team is willing to take a chance on Merkley, it might pay off handsomely.
