It was announced today, via Cap Friendly on X.com, that the Boston Bruins have placed Milan Lucic on the Long Term Injured Reserve list. While a formal timeline for his return was not announced, this move confirms he will likely be out longer than previously expected.
Previously, head coach Jim Montgomery said that Lucic would only be out for "weeks".
The Bruins are off to an incredible start to the season, losing just their first game last night in overtime, ending a 6 game-winning streak. This builds off their incredible success in the regular season last year. Hopefully, however, they continue this success into the postseason, unlike last season.
While losing Lucic is definitely a setback for the team, the Bruins are filled with veteran players who can step up and fill the role that the big 35-year-old forward plays until he returns.
