It's no surprise that Kent Hughes is actively trying to trade a goalkeeper. We know that Samuel Montembeault and Jake Allen should theoretically start the season, so Casey DeSmith is all anyone's talking about when it comes to a trade.

We're still assuming that Cayden Primeau will be subject to the waivers, but a trade would also be possible. That's according to former Tricolore goaltender Richard Sévigny.

If there are three goalies in Montreal and he ends up in Laval, I'm convinced he'll want to leave. In any case, if I were in his shoes, that's what I'd do. Because with three goalies ahead of him, he'll never get another chance."

- Richard Sévigny

According to Sévigny, a ménage à trois never works. There's always someone unhappy in that kind of situation, and too much unnecessary pressure.

"It can't work. There are no positives. It creates unhealthy internal competition. Playing for the Canadiens is already a lot of pressure. This is even worse. You can't afford to lose, or the other guy will take your place."

"There's always someone unfortunate in this situation. Even if you have the best guys in the world, it sure doesn't work. There isn't a goalie who's going to settle for third." - Richard Sévigny

Which is to say that the possibility of Primeau asking for a trade is very real, if he hasn't already. Understandably, it's hard enough to be 3rd, imagine being 4th in an organization. To be continued...
