The trade deadline is fast approaching and there may be a lot of action soon.

One of the players that is attracting a lot of attention on the market is without a doubt defenseman Erik Karlsson.

The San Jose Sharks are more interested than ever in trading him to accelerate their rebuilding process and also to take advantage of the value that is currently at its maximum for him.

In connection with the Swedish defenseman, in the last few minutes, we have just learned a real bombshell from the Oilers.

Chris Johnston has just reported that discussions are heating up between Edmonton and San Jose regarding the 32 year old veteran.

The reporter adds that there are some important financial details to work out, as Karlsson is paid $11,500,000 annually through 2026-27. However, this would be the second time this season that discussions have taken place to explore a potential deal.

So, from what we can understand, if the two clubs manage to find common ground, Karlsson could join the already devastating Edmonton Oilers' offense.

Remember that the Sharks would be willing to retain a portion of the defenseman's salary for the remaining years of his contract.

This season, despite his team's poor performance, the defenseman is once again dominant offensively, with a record of 17 goals and 70 points in only 51 games. That's quite impressive!

Now imagine if he had to play with teammates like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane and others to complete his games

The result would be spectacular!
