The Calgary Flames summer has been focused on their big crop of upcoming Unrestricted Free Agents, but as of right now, it appears there's little movement on any of them, including top line centre Elias Lindholm.
A change of heart?

When the summer began, most fans and analysts expected Lindholm to be on the move, but to this point, Calgary have seemingly wanted to bring him back, and according to No. 28, he could be back after all. I am willing to stay. My agent and Calgary will handle most of it. There's a lot we have to agree on, but I've said that I can consider staying. I have one year left, but if things don't go as I've planned, then I'll become a free agent. Nothing strange about that. We'll see what happens. This doesn't prove that he'll sign any of the deals the Flames have offered him to this point, but the willingness to potentially return should fill the team and their fans with plenty of optimism.
Playoffs incoming?
While many fans and analysts have counted out the Flames, with Lindholm, Jonathan Huberdeau, Nazem Kadri and some talented young names, the Flames could surprise in a big way this season. However, until a deal or a trade is made for Lindholm and the rest of the UFA's (Backlund, Hanifin, Kylington, Tanev and Zadorov), their future will be up in the air, with the Swedish star being the biggest domino to fall, so keep an eye on Calgary as the 2023-24 season approaches.
