The NHL has faced criticism for not doing enough to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. While wearing special jerseys for certain holidays, including St. Patrick's day, is a tradition in the league, not having a dedicated and consistent effort to support and raise awareness for marginalized communities is a missed opportunity.

The boycott by Ivan Provorov and the cancelation of Pride events by some teams shows that there is still much work to be done in terms of inclusivity and representation in the NHL. It's important for sports leagues and organizations to use their platform to create a welcoming and accepting environment for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

It's encouraging to see that some teams and players are taking a stand and advocating for these issues, and it is hoped that the NHL will continue to work towards creating a more inclusive and accepting environment for all.

The Blackhawks were supposed to wear the Hockey is for everyone jersey in the warmups ahead of their game. However, a last minute change was foreseen and instead they decided to wear their Black History Month jerseys.

Sports leagues and organizations have a significant platform and can use it to make a positive impact in society. By promoting inclusivity and acceptance, they can help create a more accepting and welcoming environment for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

It's important for everyone to continue to speak out and advocate for these issues, and for sports leagues and organizations to make a concerted effort to support and celebrate diversity. Only then can we create a truly inclusive and accepting culture in sports and beyond.
