It's no secret that the Habs are congested at the forward level and as we saw at the Rookie Tournament in the last few days, there's a very good crop of players who will soon be knocking on the NHL door.

According to what Marco D'Amico of MTL Hockey Now reports, Tricolore general manager Kent Hughes has been very active lately and a deal is reportedly imminent.

"According to a well-connected NHL source, the Canadiens are looking to move some of their surplus forwards right now, but general managers aren't ready to start moving pieces of their roster until they have a clearer picture of their players in training camp." - Marco D'Amico

So with training camp starting soon, we can expect to see some movement among the St. Flanel forwards.

Unlike the forwards, the defencemen are not as deep, although three rookie defencemen could start the season in Montreal: Justin Barron, Kaiden Guhle and Jordan Harris.

Kent Hughes is working on a deal that could bring in a right-handed defenceman for a forward, all while saving money on the payroll.
