The 2018 Hockey Canada investigation has turned into the most prominent story in the hockey world in recent weeks. Today, more details were revealed about the incident that lead to five current and former NHL players getting charged.

Westhead Reveals New Facts In Hockey Canada Investigation

This update comes from none other than Rick Westhead himself. Westhead has been at the forefront of this story since he uncovered it years ago. Today he revealed that one of the players involved is facing an additional charge. This information comes directly from court documents that were made public today.

New: Court documents obtained by @TSN_Sports and @CTVNationalNews confirm Dillon Dube, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote have all been charged with sexual assault.
"Dillon Dube on or about the 19th day of June in the year 2018 at the City of London in the Southwest Region did commit a ****** ******* on E.M., contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada."
The document repeats the same allegation against each of the other four players and says McLeod is also facing an additional charge of ****** ******* for "being a party to the offence."
All of the players have said they will plead not guilty and the allegations against them have not been tested in court.
The players were arrested on Jan. 26 and their next appearance date is Feb. 5, according to the documents.

Westhead followed this up by pulling out the key information in the documents and making it more accessible to readers. He clarified that the incident is believed to have began consensually, but later turned into an assault.

One takeaway of the documents filed in court is confirmation that police in London, Ont. believe that the 2018 World Juniors player who E.M. says she initially had consensual s** with also ******** ********* her.
Again, lawyers for the five players have said they all will plead not guilty. The allegations against them have not been proven.
Will be on @SportsCentre tonight to discuss.

All of this seems to indicate that Michael McLeod is somehow more involved than the other players as he is facing two charges. The leading theory is that the incident began with McLeod, who later invited the other players to join them. This is just speculation however. Regardless though, McLeod now seems to face the toughest legal battle of the five individuals.

Be sure to stay tuned for more updates from London Police as well as NHL insiders on this story as more details continue to be made public.
