At the Montreal Canadiens golf tournament, Kent Hughes was asked about the possibility of exchanging Carey Price's contract. The goaltender has spent his career in Montreal and is still involved with the team, which makes the question all the more legitimate.

It was a surprise to learn that the GM is not at all closed to the idea:

"I think there's always a possibility of concluding something. I don't know what such an exchange would look like, and I don't ultimately know if it will happen, but I certainly wouldn't describe such a scenario as something impossible."

Let's remember that Carey himself said he'd accept without hesitation if it's to help the team. He's proud to be a Hab and will be for life. Let's just say that these comments were very popular last week. The fans see it very positively.

To add to this, Pierre LeBrun believes that the Habs are currently working on something big involving number 31's contract.

The informer is well connected and he's certainly not saying this for nothing. There are echoes of a possible trade.

We know that Kent Hughes wants to respect the salary cap at all costs before the start of the season, without putting Carey's name on the LTIR. With Carey nearly 5 million over the current cap, the solution may well be to trade him outright.
