Over the past year, we've become increasingly convinced that Samuel Montembeault is the Canadiens' number-one goaltender, at least for the next few years. His progression has taken on a new level, and he seems ready to rise to the challenge. This is great news for him and for all Canadiens fans. The likeable goalie wants more than anything to stay in Montreal. <q> I'd definitely like that. It's nice to be in Montreal and close to home. Everywhere you go, there are passionate fans. It's fun to meet everyone. People are so happy and friendly. If it makes people happy, it makes me happy to talk.</q> Monty is in the final year of his contract, and he's never been shy about saying he wants to sign his extension now, to move on. He left a solid hint that it could happen soon. <q>If I can sign an agreement, as soon as possible, that would be great. I knew there were a lot of issues to deal with this summer. Jake Allen did it during training camp. So it could happen in the next month. We still have plenty of time.</q> The Habs want to keep him, Montembeault wants to stay and fans also want to see the Quebecer in front of the net.
