The acquisition of Lias Andersson is rather enigmatic. On the one hand, he's said to be a replacement for Anthony Richard, who signed with the Bruins; on the other, he was Kent Hughes' choice even before Richard.

Regardless, the young forward will have to prove himself if he wants to play in Montreal, and that will start with his performances at training camp.

However, he's not lacking in confidence, having been more than solid in the AHL last year.

"I had a good last season. I'm feeling good. I want to be in the NHL, and not just on the fourth line. I want to be higher up in the lineup, and one day produce in the NHL. I feel I've improved in recent years and that I belong in the NHL. I'm confident I can play well in the NHL too."

We love it! A mature 24-year-old who feels ready to take on new challenges. Now we'll see if the boots follow the chops.

Andersson was selected 7th overall by Jeff Gorton with the Rangers. He could be a big surprise for the Canadiens this year.
