Martin St-Louis answered a lot of questions about Rafaël Harvey-Pinard last night. It's normal, the youngster had just scored his first career hat trick. And he kept coming back to the same thing: the details. So a reporter asked him to clarify a bit. He wanted to know what, exactly, the famous details were. It's a totally legitimate question. But Martin didn't look too happy to hear it. Here's the exchange: Journalist: It's been a few times, when it comes to Harvey-Pinard, you talk a lot about its details. What are those details? What are you referring to when you talk about this? Martin: But you, what are the details? What do you see? You have no idea? Ah I know, but I'm asking you. Are you listening to the game? Journalist: That's a trap, because if I answer wrong, I look like a fool. You're the expert. Martin: Well yes, but give me one. Reporter: I hate it when you do that. I'm not going to answer that question. Martin: No? You don't even have one of those details? Reporter: Oh no. You can see the excerpt from about 2 minutes 30 seconds into the press briefing.

Again, I think the question was 100% legitimate. Instead of guessing what details Martin St-Louis was talking about, he asked him directly. He could have answered St-Louis' question, but he was becoming extremely vulnerable. St-Louis could have said that his answer was wrong or that it didn't make sense. So he did the right thing by not answering. And Martin ended up talking about the famous details: 1 is his work ethic. To me, he's up front. His level of competition with his work ethic. He's very committed on both sides of the ice. It's rare that he doesn't do his job defensively and offensively. That's a young player who is very committed and reads the game well on both sides of the ice. It's not just where and what the puck is. It's where his teammates are and where the opponent is too. With all of that, it's understandable that RHP is enjoying success right now.
