There's no doubt about it, Kirby Dach and Nick Suzuki are among the Canadiens' top 6 forwards. But what about in a few years' time? For the time being, Nick Suzuki is the center of the first trio and Dach will probably play on the wing. However, number 77 proved last year that he can make his trio-mates better when he plays center. Recently a guest on Tony Marinaro's Sick Podcast, former player agent David Ettedgui said the Habs could win the Stanley Cup in the 2027-28 season. Here's his 23-man roster: Cole Caufield - Kirby Dach - William Nylander (acquired in 2024) Juraj Slafkovsky - Nick Suzuki - Alex Newhook Sean Farrell - Owen Beck - Joshua Roy Luke Tuch - Jan Mysak - Emil Heineman / Jesse Ylonen Kaiden Guhle - Logan Mailloux Lane Hutson - David Reinbacher Adam Engstrom - Michael Matheson Arber Xhekaj - Justin Barron Juuse Saros (acquired in 2025) Samuel Montembeault Asked if Kirby Dach would be the team's number-one center, Ettedgui says he's got what it takes. It takes a big guy as the first center to be successful in the playoffs. In his opinion, Dach will be very close to his true potential in two years' time, and will be superior to Nick Suzuki. That's quite a statement, given that Dach, at both junior and NHL level, has never had a season with more points than the captain. However, I agree that it's a possibility. With what we saw of Dach at center last year with average players, the way he protected the puck, accepted a check thanks to his big frame and passed the disc to an unmarked teammate, I imagine it will be even better with impact players. Let's not forget that he's only 21 years old.
